On this post let me virtually take you to Vigan, the Heritage City. Since 2 December 1999, the City is included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites. While last 8th December 2014, the City was declared by the Foundation as one of the New 7 Wonder Cities of the world.
Hello old-world! Yes! I did feel like I time travelled back to the days when everything in history is happening. Time machines are not yet available as of this writing so if you want to gallivant through time just visit Vigan. 😉
This is St. Paul’s Cathedral or the Vigan Cathedral. It was built in 1641.
Across is the famous Calle Crisologo. If you love vintage architectures and intricate details you will enjoy Calle Crisologo. I would recommend that you take a walk along this street.
Not to mention there are several food and souvenir shops where you can splurge on at this street.
Not so far away from the cathedral are the plaza Burgos and the plaza Salcedo. You may opt renting a calesa to save you from lots and lots of walking. Oops! I meant to say to save your time and energy. Haha The kutsero can give you a quick tour around the city.
Next to Plaza Salcedo is the house of Padre Burgos. An antique house full of oldfangled stuff. 🙂
I tried to refrain myself from touching things inside but… I am a little unsuccessful. Oh no! 😦
We also drop by at the Crisologo Museum According to history Floro Crisologo was shot in the head while inside the St. Paul’s Cathedral.
and at the Pagburnayan jar making. Look at those beautiful Burnay jars.
A local showed us how to make a simple jar. It was interesting. Watching him doing it seems easy but, when I tried it. Oh boy! It requires great strength which obviously I don’t have to keep the potter’s wheel spinning and creativity which I believe I have but, it takes two to tango to make a beautiful earthenware.
To wrap up our Ilocos journey we had our lunch at the Ihawan sa Caoayan. The food and dining experience here is truly PINOY! Boodle fight!
My first visit to Ilocos was truly memorable, unforgettable, and indelible. Am I being redundant? I mean it. haha
Thanks to triple 8 travel for the affordable tour! We had a blast!
